. At the first, I would like to describe an Active Voice.
Active
Sentence (Marked by the blue colour)
1. They run around the big and expensive table and
shout.
2. Lisa stands and looks at them.
3. “Yes, mummy! Come and join us!” Ami and Ben
shout.
4. Ami kisses Ben.
5. She now sleeps in her bed.
All the sentence in active voice above used Simple
Present Tense. It is expresses daily habits or usual activities and then
the simple present is used for events or situation that exist.
In Active Voice,
the sentence show that the subject is doing the verb action. The form Active Voice is (Thing doing action+Verb+Thing receiving action).
1. They run around the big and
expensive table and shout.
(Subject) (Verb) (Object)
2. Lisa stands and looks at them.
(Subject) (Verb) (Object)
3. “Yes,
mummy! Come and join us!” Ami and Ben
shout.
The
sentence is considered to be active sentence because it is made up of Subject +
present form of verb. The sentence above is also considered to be The Simple
Present Tense since the verb of the sentence (shout) in present tense.
4. Ami kisses Ben.
(Subject) (Verb) (Object)
5. She now sleeps
in her bed.
(Subject) (Verb)
Because the
subject does or “act upon” the verb in such sentence and the object as a thing that receiving something, the sentece above are
said to be in the active voice.
And then, The Passive sentence based the same short
story above :
Passive Sentence
(Marked by the red colour)

Form of all passive voice : Be + Past Participle.
- · Be can ne in any of its forms:

was, were, has been, have been, will be, etc.)
- · The Past Participle follows Be. For regular verbs, the past participle ends in-ed.
There are 5 example Passive sentences based on the
shot story above :
1. This games is liked by them very much.
2. Ben is asked to wait for Ami.
3. Now Lisa is invited to join them.
4. This game is enjoyed by them very much.
5. The table was not protected.
For number 1-4, there are used Simple Present Tense
because the past participle form ( is ).
“is” a characteristic of passive form because it is
formed by is and followed by the past participle form or the third irregular
form of the main verb “like”, “ask”, “invite”, and “enjoy”.
1. This
games is liked
by them very much.
4. This
game is enjoyed
by them very much.
Number 1 and 4 are the example passive sentence used
“by-phrase”. The passive “by-phrase” is included if it is important to know who
perfoms an action.
So, the passive
form Number 1 and 4 is :
Subject + The
auxiliary be (is/am/are) + the past participle form the main verb + “by
phrase”.
2. Ben is asked
to wait for Ami.
The
words “is asked” in this sentence is characteristic of passive form of Simple Present because it
is formed by is and followed by the past participle form or the third regular
main verb “invite”. This sentence included to the passive form of Simple
Present Tense Because it is made up of Subject + the auxiliary be (is/am/are) +

Same
with the number two, this sentence is form by S+the auxiliary be+past
participle+to invinitif. But, in this sentence no action is taking place. The
action happened before.
5. The
table was not protected.
“was
not protected” as a characteristic of Passive voice form of Simple Past Tense; that
